East European Comic Con (EECC) celebrates pop culture since 2013 in Bucharest. With a significant impact on the local business community, event attracts a large number of visitors (from 9000 in 2013 to more than 50000 attendees) many of whom stay in local hotels, dine at local restaurants and shop at local businesses. Hotels in the area often book up quickly during EECC and many charge premium rates for their rooms during the event. This can be a significant source of revenue for hotels, as well as for local restaurants and shops that cater to attendees.

In addition to the direct economic impact, Comic-Con has helped to put Bucharest on the map as a destination for pop culture enthusiasts. The event has helped to boost the city's profile and attract new visitors, which has been a boon for the local tourism industry.

EECC is one of the most important events of its kind in Europe and the most important event in Eastern Europe. Event brings together all those who love Comic books, movies, TV series, Sci-Fi and fantasy, Gaming, Japanese culture, Anime, Manga, boardgames, trading card games and last but not least, technology.

Comic-Con was first held in March 1970, with an attendance of around 100 people. The event was held in the U.S. Grant Hotel in downtown San Diego and featured special guests such as science fiction author Ray Bradbury and comic book artist Jack Kirby.

According to a study conducted by the San Diego Convention Center, Comic-Con generates over $150 million in economic impact for the city each year. This includes $88 million in direct spending by attendees, as well as an additional $68 million in indirect spending by local businesses.
