The International Light Festivals Organization (ILFO) was founded in 2015 by four of the world's leading light festivals: Lyon's Fête des Lumières, Amsterdam Light Festival, Berlin's Festival of Lights, and the Ghent Light Festival. With over 30 members from around the world, including major light festivals in Europe, Asia, and North America.

Starting this year Spotlight Festival Bucharest, Romania is member of ILFO raising public awareness about the art and science of light and to promote the cultural and economic benefits of light festivals for their host cities and regions.

Spotlight Festival Bucharest was first held in 2018 and has quickly become one of the largest and most popular light festivals in the region. The festival attracts thousands of visitors each year and has received critical acclaim for its innovative programming and high production values.

Spotlight Festival 2023, 7th edition - Geometry of the City, includes a mix of indoor and outdoor exhibitions, workshops, and performances, featuring local and international artists and aims to transform the geometry of the city through three days of light, color and sound shows. Between 21 – 23 April, famous buildings come to life through video mapping, transforming symbolic places in Bucharest together with new media pioneers from France, Hungary and Austria.

For the first time hotel InterContinental Athénée Palace Bucharest is included in the festival circuit showcasing a massive light projection that has been created by a highly acclaimed contemporary artist in Romania, Roman Tolici.
